The Energy Efficiency Movement strengthens technical leadership with new appointment

The Energy Efficiency Movement (EEM) has appointed Erich Labuda, the President of the ABB Motion Services division, to its Executive Committee.
The Energy Efficiency Movement is an initiative that aims to promote energy efficiency as a key solution to climate change and other global energy challenges. It brings together leading organizations with the goal of sharing knowledge and energy-efficient practices across industries.
Labuda, who has been a key figure at ABB for more than 13 years and has been serving as President of the Motion Services division at ABB since 2023, brings a wealth of expertise in sustainability, strategic business development, and energy efficiency across a range of industries.
Mike Umiker, Managing Director, Energy Efficiency Movement, says, “We’re thrilled to announce the appointment of Erich Labuda to our executive committee. Within ABB, he has driven initiatives directly aligned with the EEM’s mission to promote the adoption of energy-efficient solutions on a global scale. Labuda joins an accomplished group of professionals on the EEM’s Executive Committee, including Prof. Johann Kolar, Director of the Power Electronics System Laboratory at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and Thomas Møller, President of the Energy Division at Alfa Laval, all of whom are dedicated to advancing energy-efficient technologies and practices worldwide.
Labuda says, “I’m excited to be joining such a dynamic and knowledgeable team on a mission that is close to my heart and to the benefit of everyone. Industry professionals have so much to learn from each other, and there is a lot that we can do to improve energy efficiency and ultimately fight climate change.
